Yacht-Away was established in 1975 - the first Cruising Charter service in South Australia. You are provided with yacht, Skipper, bedding and provisions - just bring the family or friends and enjoy the FREEDOM, ESCAPE and FASCINATION of sailing. THE SKIPPER, Charles Rigg, holds a Department of Marine and Harbour Master V Certificate and Australian Yachting Federation Yachtmaster Offshore and Instructor Certificates.

These qualifications, together with his extensive sailing experience and friendly welcome will ensure the safety and success of your worry-free cruise. His congenial "First Mate", Julie Fischer, crews competently with him on many and various charters.
PLAN YOUR OWN ADVENTURE Yacht-Away will suggest cruises for you. We know all the delights of the islands, coastal waters and safe anchorages.	CHOICE OF DEPARTURES We’ll send a check-list of personal items you should pack for your extended cruise. By prior arrangement Quasar is available at all major ports in both gulfs and Kangaroo Island.

FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN "BARE-BOAT" CRUISING we have an excellent alternative…an alternative that will appeal to many. Quasar has a separate aft crew-cabin for the Skipper, which leaves the whole vessel (eight bunks) to the charter party. Your "Native Pilot" keeps a low profile and is only called upon if required. This compromise meets insurance and Dept of Marine & Harbours’ survey and manning requirements. It does have some obvious advantages, such as the: availability of local knowledge additional speed and stability of a large vessel expansion of your cruising horizons and by no means least … the price! Our method enables you to be in charge of this swift, comfortable vessel whilst relaxing at the same time! Enquire and be surprised at the attractive low price.
FISHING the bountiful waters of Port Lincoln and the gulfs yield snook, trevally, sweep, tommies and whiting all year round. Fish in secluded bays and/or calm anchorages. PROVISIONING ALL meals and snacks are included in our extended cruising prices. Please let us know in advance of any special dietary needs. (With "Bare-Boat", you supply the provisions which we can organise on your behalf.) NOT INCLUDED: Alcoholic beverages, travel insurance.	FLY OR DRIVE We can advise you on various travel options to your departure location. (Daily air flights and bus services are available to and from Port Lincoln. Tumby Bay: bus only.) DIVING AND SNORKELLING Explore the underwater world; play with the seals. Search for crayfish, abalone, scallops and the many species of fish in the beauty of the crystal waters.
YES, YOU CAN LEARN TO SAIL! You are welcome to learn sailing skills, basic seamanship and navigation during your cruise if you wish. RELAX! Walk, explore, read, lounge, watch the wildlife, sail. In the evening, dine in Quasar’s roomy saloon or enjoy a barbecue ashore in a secluded island cove. Often you’ll have an island all to yourselves! EXECUTIVE/BUSINESS TEAMS If you would like to engage your company members in ‘team training’ or ‘sponsored team racing’, we would welcome a get-together to organise details. TUMBY BAY is a delightful, friendly, seaside town with a magnificent beach, just 12 miles from the Sir Joseph Banks Group of Islands.
PORT LINCOLN, our other home port, on the eastern tip of Eyre Peninsula, nestles in a harbour three times the size of Sydney Harbour. A cruising radius of only 25 miles will take you to over 30 islands, mostly discovered by Matthew Flinders in 1802. Follow in the wake of the ‘Investigator’ to uninhabited and unspoiled islands.
"Quasar" is a 16.5m(55ft) racing Van de Stadt sloop completely refitted for cruising. She accommodates up to 8 charterers (12 for sail training), has refrigeration, hot and cold fresh-water shower, toilet and substantial dining area for your comfort. (as mentioned previously, the crew has a separate aft-cabin). An RFD dinghy with outboard motor is carried for shore excursions/swimming, etc. Of importance, Quasar is fully approved by Dept of Marine and Harbours’ Inspectors, meeting their stringent standards for passenger safety. BOOKING CONDITIONS A confirmation deposit of 20% is required with bookings. Balance payable no less than 21 days prior to departure date. Whilst every effort is made to operate charter tours according to itinerary, or as arranged, changes may be necessary and made at the discretion of the experienced Skipper. Yacht-Away SA accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property or for personal expenses incurred for any delay or alterations to itinerary which is beyond the control of Yacht-Away SA.
